A House Portrait from Millburn, New Jersey
by Jennifer Skopp
A woman hired Jennifer Skopp to create a Watercolor House Portrait of the Millburn, New Jersey home that she and her family lived in for many years. They had just sold this house and were downsizing. She wanted to have this artwork to commemorate their time in that home.
This colonial house has yellow-ochre siding and bright blue shutters. There are three pitched roofs that are brown. The tall, brick chimney is on the outside of the front of the house. The front entrance is a structure that protrudes a few feet from the rest of the house. It has its own roof. There are four brick and stone steps leading up to the brown, front door. The railing for the steps is black wrought iron.
The garden is in front of the house and to the right of the steps. There are large bushes and a row of pink flowering plants in front of them.
A long driveway to the right of the house, goes from the street all the way to the backyard, where there is a garage. It has the same color as the house and the garage door is white.
Jennifer painted the trees in the background very simply, without much detail, to have the viewer focus on the house.
