A House Portrait from Mountainside, New Jersey
by Jennifer Skopp
A realtor commissioned Jennifer Skopp to create this Watercolor House Portrait to give to his client as a closing gift.
This home is in Mountainside, New Jersey. The color of the siding on this Colonial-style house is yellow-ochre. This two-story house has five windows in the front of the house, on the second floor. The ground floor has two windows to the left of the main entrance and a bay window to the right of it. All the windows have white shutters. Above the second floor the roof comes to a point and there is a small, round window with a curved, diamond shaped design inside.
The path running parallel to the main entrance of the house, comes from the driveway. The path is made up of very long steps. Many houses in Mountainside, besides this house, are uphill from the street. There are solar lights at the end of poles that are inserted in the grass that runs along the path. There is a curved garden area that runs parallel to the front of the house and continues to the right side of the house. The garden has large, rounded bushes and shrubs, as well as flowers. In front of the path is a wide strip of grass and in front of that is another garden area that has low shrubs.
The formal entrance and storm door are white. The front door is a bluish green. There are four small windows running from top to bottom, on either side of the front door.
Jennifer painted rows of purple and pink flowers, as well as flowers in planters at the main entrance, to add color to this Watercolor House Portrait.
