A House Portrait from Stockton, New Jersey

by Jennifer Skopp

A Manhattan couple had recently bought a second home in Stockton, New Jersey home. They were very excited and asked Jennifer Skopp to paint a Watercolor House Portrait of it.

The new house has yellow ochre colored siding. The shutters are dark blue and there is a pitched roof. It is a two-story house and there is an attic above the second floor. The attic has a double window and there are three windows on the second floor. The first floor has two windows to the left of the front brown, wooden door. There is a chimney on the left side of the house.

The covered porch is the entire width of the house and has four white columns. The railing is white. The top of the roof that covers the porch is a light bluish green. There is a wooden floor on the porch. The short path leads to the sidewalk.

The lawn in front of the porch is small. Bushes and shrubs border the front of the porch. There are also shrubs on either side of the path. Flowers are planted in between the front of the lawn and the sidewalk.

When Jennifer painted each cluster of flowers, she alternated the colors of red and yellow. She exaggerated the brightness of the red tree on the left side and delineated the clouds with perfectly curved lines.
