A House Portrait from Upper Saddle River, New Jersey

by Jennifer Skopp

The parents of the new owner of this Upper Saddle River, New Jersey home commissioned Jennifer Skopp to create this Watercolor House Portrait, so they could give it as a house-warming gift to their son and daughter-in-law.

This is a large house with gray siding. There are multiple dark gray, pitched roofs for different sections of the house. It has two floors and there is a small attic on the third level. There are four adjoining garages on the right side of the house. The long driveway is on the right. It goes from the street and then forks off to the left, in front of the house and then continues straight to the garages and the backyard.

The front door is in the middle of the house. It is in the section of the house where the exterior is made of stone with hints of yellow and gray. There are a few steps to get to the front door. The banisters are black wrought iron. The landing is deep enough, so that it is completely covered.

To the left of the stone main entrance there is a small, covered porch with four columns. The railing is also black wrought iron.

The single windows are mostly rectangles, but a few of them are arched windows. Some of the triple windows have an arched window in the center.

When Jennifer received the photos of the house, there were no flowers in bloom. Jennifer painted her own landscaping. There is a garden that borders the entire width of the house. There is also a garden at the top of the lawn and a circular flower bed on the corner, where the driveway makes a left turn.
