A Restaurant Portrait from Athens, Greece
by Jennifer Skopp
This building portrait was inspired by a restaurant in the oldest neighborhood of Athens, Greece, called Plaka. Jennifer was interested in painting this because there was such a variety of textures on this relatively small building.
Jennifer loved the greenery that stretched the entire width of the building. The shrubs sat above the awning. There was a wrought iron gate and fence surrounding the porch that was painted with a cool green. It looked like the porch was used for outdoor dining, but no one was there at that time. The top of the entrance gate was rounded. The fence was composed of intricate geometric designs. Yellow and orange flowers in window boxes, were placed on the top part of the fence.
