A House Portrait from Orlando Florida

by Jennifer Skopp

A woman hired Jennifer Skopp to paint a Watercolor House Portrait of her daughter’s Orlando, Florida, home, to give to her as a birthday gift.

This is a wide, two-story house with grayish-turquoise siding. Most of the windows face the backyard, so they are not visible on the House Portrait. The main entrance to the home has two tall columns and is topped with a triangular roof that juts out from the main roof. There is a bay window to the left of the main entrance.

The garage juts out from the main part of the house on the right side. It has a triangular roof that attaches to the roof of the house. Each side of the garage door has beautiful, small, wide, turquoise, gray and white rectangular tiles. Those tiles are also on the base of the two columns on each side of the main entrance. There is a long driveway that goes from the street to the garage. The deep front lawn is on the right side of the driveway. A horizontal path leads from the driveway, then curves toward the main entrance. It is lined with short solar lights inserted into the lawn.

There are trees behind and in front of the house on the right side. The branches of the trees in the front frame the top of the house. Colorful flowers and shrubs border the front of the house on each side of the main entrance. There is a small tree with blossoms in front of the bay window.

Jennifer painted soft, bluish-purple shadows on the house, lawn and driveway.
